About Kipchoge
Like many other children his age, Kipchoge’s introduction to running came from his daily school runs. Being the son of a teacher at the school he attended, being late was not an option, so he physically sprinted as quickly as he could, twice a day.
The school runs quickly turned into something more. After winning a few school competitions, a young Eliud would ask his mother to put him in touch with one of his former students who had by then become an athletics star. His name was Patrick Sang, and he has been his coach in both athletics and life ever since.
Eliud made history by becoming a World champion as a teenager when he beat Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele and Morocco’s Hicham El Gerouj at the 2003 world Championships in Paris.
Kipchoge spent the first decade of his career on the cross-country courses and on the track, his Olympic games achievements include a bronze medal in the 5000m at the 2004 Athens Olympic games and a silver medal over the same distance at the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

He is a two-time Olympic Games marathon champion having won in 2016 at the Rio de Janeiro games and at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo, Japan.
He switched to the Marathon after failing to make the Kenyan team to the 2012 Olympic games, the marathon is where he has found tremendous success. He has broken the World record twice, in 2018 where he clocked 2:01:39 and in 2022 where he ran a time of 2:01:09. He has won 15 career marathons, among them 11 majors.
His Mantra, No Human is Limited saw him become the first man to run the Marathon under 2 hours through the infamous INEOS 159 Challenge.
Beyond the Sport, Eliud is an avid reader, an environment champion and a farmer who above all believes his family is his life’s ignition key.

He is returning to the city where he found Global success over two decades ago with hope of making history by becoming the first man to win the Olympic games marathon title three times in a row.
